KATHERINE M. LOOS

After earning a Bachelor of Arts degree from Louisiana State University in 1979, Ms. Loos received her Juris Doctorate degree from Louisiana State University in 1982. She was admitted to practice in Louisiana in 1982 and in 1995 was admitted to practice in all courts of the State of Texas.  Ms. Loos has litigation experience in a broad spectrum of cases, including toxic tort, product liability, automobile liability, insurance and workers' compensation.  She has obtained favorable decisions in dozens of jury trials in many of the state courts of Louisiana and in U.S. District Court.  Ms. Loos represents DIRECTV as its Louisiana counsel.  She has handled hundreds of cases arising out of satellite signal theft in federal courts throughout Louisiana.  Ms. Loos is a mediator with the mediation company of Perry, Dampf, Watts & Associates.  She has extensive first-chair bench trial, jury trial and appellate experience and is regularly involved in mediations.  

Ms. Loos is a member of the Louisiana State and Lafayette Parish Bar Associations, The State Bar of Texas and the Louisiana Association of Defense Counsel. She holds the rank of master in the American Inn of Court of Acadiana. Ms. Loos is admitted to practice before the U.S. District Courts for the Eastern, Middle and Western Districts of Louisiana; the U.S. District Court for the Southern Disctrict of Texas; the U.S. Court of Appeals, Fifth Circuit and all courts of the State of Texas.  Ms. Loos lectures at seminars for the bar and insurance industry.  Ms. Loos was chosen by the judges of the 15th Judicial District to be a member of the board of directors of the Court's Indigent Defender Office and has served on that board since 1997.  Ms. Loos was appointed to and serves on the Louisiana State University College of Arts and Science Advisory Council.
